More sour cream on potatoes.
This is an old standby that we eat several times a year. The toppings can vary (we used to use caviar, when there still was such a thing), but the basis is always halved small potatoes, oiled, salted and roasted cut-side down. Oddly, these local taters were so rich in sugar that they began to stick to the pan, so we finished them right-side-up, under the broiler.
You are tempted to eat them hot, right out of the oven. But be warned: the sour cream will melt and slide off.
Really, this is OK eaten slightly cooled. I've had them at catered events, in fact, and they weren't hot. (Cold might be icky, though.)
Finishing touches were snippets of smoked salmon, and a sprinkle of chives.

Have you thought of using salmon eggs as caviar? I was wandering downtown today and went into the upscale market that's in the huge shopping center where you find Nordstrom's. They were selling the salmon eggs that are used in sushi and I bought a small package, took them home and have them on an omelet which I had garnished with sour cream. They were a tiny bit too fishy so if I get them again, I'll wash the eggs first but they would work very well with "your" potatoes. Plus, sustainable and not that expensive -my package cost me around $5. I didn't look at how many ounces there were but it was more than sufficient. They would also work in a sour cream/salmon caviar type sauce for pasta, maybe with some onion and a sprinkle of chives. I'm willing to do the research and report back the results.
I will tell you my special non-stick thang - baking paper, line everything with a sheet of baking paper.

Nancy: To tell the truth, I don't like salmon roe. It's fishy, as you say, but worse, I'm squeamish about the size of the slimy pop when you bite them.
