Unseasonal Frippery

Just because.
Just because smoked salmon popped into my head again the other day.
Just because miniature socca "blini" are so easy to make, and so good to eat. I love 'em.
Just because there was already sour cream and red onion in the fridge.
Nothing fancy, really.
But. Fancy.

Dog: So insouciant, so casual. But we thrilled ourselves, really. Easy, and wonderful.

Chilebrown: There is a photo! A good one. Try again.

Fancy that! That looks so good.I got addicted to smoked salmon at an early age attending my friends Bar Mitzvah.

Marie: And it's only pretend luxury. Because, who wouldn't eat a bagel with lox every weekend, and consider it ordinary? But when you put the nova on a fresh pancake, it's OK to feel special. And we did.

Mouse: Ridiculously easy, dear. Cheap, even.

Greg: Hah! Dining on the dime of your friends' parents. Way to go.

That's the most hunger-inducing photo I've seen all week. I've got the red onions and sour cream in my fridge but, alas, no salmon.

Sally: Look at this earlier post of mine, and follow the link to Kalyn's Kitchen for her recipe, which I used. Or you can click through from there to David Liebovitz's own verson, which inspired Kalyn. To make blini, just pour small pancakes. They puff up nicely.

Robert: Merci beacoup ever so much. If you're still craving, the salmon's at the store.....
