Blearrgghhh!

This might be it. I might be done.
I am not a genuine chef, and these days I'm hardly cooking at all anyway.
When I look back at some of my exuberant posts, it's clear I was having fun, but not contributing much more to the food blogosphere than snapshots of what I ate. Zzzz.
If I find I have something to say, on any topic, you might find me here in the future, but right now I'm bored and cynical and keeping mum.
Mum.

Of course we are sorry to hear that. It sounds like you moat is getting deeper. Hopefully Cranky will ride his horse and save the fair maiden.

Thanks Mum! Whenever you're ready, we're here for you. In the meantime, thanks for all the yummies!

I do understand the problem. I have a couple of blogs, that nobody reads, and and I can't seem to fill them either. Enjoy and hope to read you again soon, Cheers!

Happy trails to you--
Until we meet again........

Totally understand. We'll be waiting.

Oh no, say it isn't so. You don't have to write about food. Write about anything that you please but don't go away. We will be stricken with grief until you return.

Sorry to hear it. But, I understand. My blog has been experiencing a slow death since last fall and is unlikely to last much longer. It's hard to find something interesting to say often enough to maintain regular readers, and it seems near impossible (for me, at least) to attract new readers. I'll check back here sometimes in the hope of a new rant.

Dear "Cookiecrumb",

I am certainly no poster child for fastidious blog upkeep. I have started so many and maintained so few, and there's no reason except that I just don't feel like it.

So I understand your feelings. But I would like you to know that I have been quietly reading your blog for years now. I think I have left only one comment in this entire time, but yours is nearly always the first blog I head to when I'm making my daily food circuit. I don't know your name (though I do know your dog's) but I find myself thinking of you at strange moments, the entertaining, passionate tomato-ranching bum that I have come to think of, in some small way, as a friend.

Your writing is poignant, of course, and clever and funny and all of those things. But I think the thing that has caused me to be so faithful is the fact that each entry reads like a light conversation on a porch. A happy friendly chat, which neither offers too little nor requires too much.

I cannot help but selfishly hope that you change your mind and begin to write thrice daily. However, if you don't, thank you for these fun years, and I hope you're always mad.

Your kind-of friend,

Savannah

I, too, will miss you, but can understand completely the bored and cynical thing. I hope you are revisited with enthusiasm sometime soon! Adios.

Mummer! I want to hear about your garden, dog and rant & crank about the election. Not all of us have the option of meeting you at the local FM :-)
We'll be here, snark in hand.

Sits patiently.

What Ms Brown Mouse said.

I don't care what you write about. It's all fun.

Zoomie said...

And, Hungry Dog, I'm a relatively new, and charmed, reader. Maybe we should each send a link to each other's blogs to five of our friends and ask them to send to five of theirs, and so on? I know anyone who found us would love us all! :-)

Hi, friends. Especially Savannah.
Thank you all for such soulful, meaningful comments. I appreciate you not bullying me, and I chuckle as most of you assume I will eventually get back to the keyboard (I will).
I'm already feeling a bit braver and snarkier as the old food blog peels away like wrappers from American cheese, revealing mean me, but funny. (Tired of being nice).
Lots and lots of sweet support from my homies; thanks. I'll just rest a little longer, then I'm gonna kick some ass. I hope I'm not too mean.

Well, I've been enjoying your posts and your photos are always interesting and beautiful. I have been waiting for some remarks and photos about tomatoes! Thank you and take care.

Shut the front door! If you look up bored and cynical you will find my picture there. Mine not yours!Take a break...then pick a subject and write about it. I enjoy your insight/humor/wit. The world needs some cynics jut to stir the pot.Blog on!

Zoomie said...

I miss you already. Just sayin'.

cookiecrumb said...

Funnyface: Hang in there! tomato season is summer. I expect you'll hear a little something about it. :)

Meathenge: Dr. Biggles! Just when we think you're all finished food blogging, along come some tasty posts. I might have to keep up with you. Nah.

Greg: I'm hoping the respite will revivify me. Hoping.

Zoomie: Theoretically, I miss writing, too. But practically, I'm digging the time off. Oy.
Hang in there. I have some ideas (and some of them are about food, but not cooking).
Thanks!

What I am going to do without your new blog posts? OK, I will have to read old ones, and Bartlett will again be only 5 months old.

You can always blog about boredom and its effects on gardening, TV watching, shopping, chocolate consumption....

but, seriously, if it's not fun, there's no point in doing it, take a break and come back when you feel like it.

Hi Cookie Just decided to take a look at a few blogs and I do understand how you feel.I've been over to visit Beccy recently so got inspired to post a few photos; but I no longer blog daily xx

cookiecrumb said...

Lannae: I'm feeling better all the time. But I'm just sick of blogging about food.

Bewitch: I do have a couple of favorite areas of erudition I might want to write about. I just don't wanna sound like a schoolmarm.

Chris: So nice to see you. I will try to make this a place you might like to visit now and again!
Beccy's move! OMG, what a big deal. I wish them the best.

Well I keep checking back and you're still not here. "Come back Shane please come back!" Was that over the top? Sorry, but you can still come back (please). Cheers!

I know I've not been vocal in the comments section of your blog, but I miss you. Or more precisely, I miss your writing, your musings and observations and intelligent vocabulary. Perhaps you could reprise writing while remaining away from alimentation... Approach a subject like the cosmosphere (that was a badass eclipse last week, after all) or fluid dynamics or George Lucas films: the great v the heinous?

cookiecrumb said...

Hey, friends. Thanks for the kind words. I really am thisclose to writing again (and boy, is it not about alimentation, CB).
It's such an honor to hear from you, makes me all kinda bigheady. :)

Awww. Cookiecrumb. I'm back cleaning up my blog a bit, checking connections. Haven't been posting or reading like a used too. But I read yours longer than anyone's. I'll read you when you're back, and sorry to hear about the foot!
