On, Dasher!

I'm snuggled in bed with the most selfish and smug of feelings. Christmas is nearly here, and all I have to do is cuddle with Cranky and Bartlett.
I did most of my shopping online (and I'm pleased with the results, so pleased), but there was one undelivered snafu. I could remedy that by going to the mall today, although Cranky kindly suggested that we wait until later next week. He is such a good boy.
Decorating the house has gone slowly, meaning we might not get the "tree" up. There's a wreath on the door, though, so the neighbors and delivery people have to assume we enjoy a skosh of festivity at this house. We do, really, but I'm finding it unimportant to get all tinselly indoors. That's what fireplaces are for (if it's not another Spare the Air day; we've had a rash of them in this sunny December). And I have a fantastic Christmas music channel on Pandora.
Enough about me and mine. I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season. I love that Hanukkah is overlapping Christmas this year; gonna fry up some latkes tonight. 2011 was a stinker of a year, but it went fast, ending (so far) with Boehner's bag o' toys of a cave-in.
Let's all hold cybernetic hands and feel the love. I love you! I'm so happy to know you. May the soft-focus colored soft-drink bottles spray you with good cheer. Oh, wait, that's a close-up of Christmas lights. Good cheer!

We made it through the year, and that's one thing to be grateful for - and look at all the great food we ate along the way :-)
Happy Holidays!

Little Potsy: Oh, we all set with the rum and cider drinks. Hot or cold, either way. Best wishes!

Chilebrown: I know. We could have had a fire today, but we didn't. Tomorrow we can't. For once I am seriously considering a gas fireplace. Happy, you two!

Woo Hoo! Lived through another one! Happy Holidays, Happy Hannukah and Happy Kwanzaa! Thanks for being a deightful read whether times are good or bad. Gave Boehner and the Gang of Obsolete and Outrageous Perceptions (aka the GOP)a Merlot toast last night.

The leg of lamb is marinating, the tree is trimmed, Christmas music is playing, we've lined up the holiday movies and there's about a foot of snow throughout the town(the low last night in our part of Colorado was 12 degrees) We are ready!

Again, Happy Holidays everyone

Simply: Happy holidays to you! We eat matzoh brie on Christmas morning, just to be contrary (and it's good). Any suggestions for a Kwanzaa must-not-miss?
Happiest of days! We made it through the longest night, and I'm still sassy. xx

Simply: One more for you. Greedy One Percenters = GOP.

Spare the Air scores another Christmas Day boner. Turn in your neighbor for building a fire. You too can be Hitler's Youth. I apologize to anybody that was offended but Spare the Air has gone to far.

Chilebrown: Agree! Just came from reading all these self-entitled posts on Twitter about yuppies and their fires today, in SF. What do you do? Snitch on them, or light your own fire and wait to get busted?
(We now have the option of installing a gas fire in there. Might do it. I'd miss real fires, but the chimney in this house really stinks, for days after a fire.)

Cookie,

Our Kwanzaa menu usually has the following:For breakfast we do Monkey Bread, potato pancakes and cheese grits

Dinner is Yassa Chicken (use the Food.com recipe over the Epicurious.com one)

Salmon Croquettes

Gumbo (sometimes veggie but this year we are doing the tradional with seafood and sausage)

Sides and desserst are:
Stewed okra with onion and tomatoes, jalapeno black eyed peas, sweet potato bisquits, eggnog pound cake and coconut bars.

For Hannukah dinner I made my own Challah this year...nuff said.(I really gotta work on that recipe for 2012.) My brisket, latkes and rugelach came out great though.

Simply: Oh, too kind, too kind! I am already salivating over Yassa Chicken. I looked it up, yum.
And all your appetizers and sides. (I could never eat that much, but that's just me and my dinky tummy.)
Very joyous wishes for seasonally relevant celebrating! Cheers to you.
