Tra La La Laaa!

The sun came out. The wind died down. The temperature went up.
Cranky and I sat outdoors with our brains in the sunlight yesterday, and I came to believe this was IT. The sad dank might be over.
This morning I woke up cheery and frisky. Happy.
Lemme tell you something about feelings. You feel them. I had been morose, monosyllabic, mopey.
And in a day, I was joking and gesturing and gyrating. Happy.
Whew. I hope it holds.
So this food post is a little obsolete, one hopes. During the grim gloom we made a couple of plates of spaghetti, darkly flavored with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. Anchovy paste. A squirt of balsamic vinegar (dem tomatoes from the freezer are really sweet). It tasted brown (the mushrooms, I believe). Perfect for a dismal day, and hoo boy, have we had them.
I would not like to think spaghetti is a seasonal dish, though. We'll be having more throughout the year.
But maybe not as dark.

Is it the spaghetti that's seasonal or the sauce? The sauce methinks.
Glad to hear you're feeling a little less blue :)

Isn't it amazing what a difference the sun makes. We did the same yesterday and LOVED it, then awoke to more gloom this morning, although it has cleared now. Father Nature is playing games with us.

Mouse: It's the sauce, for sure. Wow, the change in my mood today was quantum. Xxx

Zoomie: Today was our best day in MONTHS. So funny to realize the fragility of the organism.

I think the leftovers would make a fine breakfast with a "sunny side up" egg on top :-)
We had great sun yesterday then poof! Rain and clouds this afternoon. Well, I might have overdid it a bit yesterday anyway, so it wasn't the worst thing to be couch surfing today with the NYTimes. I am grateful it's not glaringly hot as the rest of the country right now!

I hear you! We have been having monsoon weather here in BC but today was sunny and made summer seem like a real possibility after all. My darling hubby has kidney stones right now and thus very little appetite. Mostly, he is able to stomach simple pasta. This is a really nice recipe to kick up the flavor a notch! Thank you - my tongue is already eager to ty it.

Little Pots: OMG, there's a small tub of leftovers, too little for two appetites. Solution: eggs! I love eggs. Thank you!
Do you do the puzzles in the NYT mag? I nailed the big KenKen yesterday.

Shine: I think there is hope for us all. I see a clear sky out my window now.
Poor hubster! I send him my best.

Hurray sunshine! It makes me a happier guy too.

Greg: Needed. It. Bad. So glad now.

It felt like the best day in a decade. Much better now.

Zoomie: A decade? Yeah, I guess it felt about that long to me, too. Going outside to weed now.

CC, I've been known to finish a Sunday NYTimes puzzle or two, but I'm the sort who does them in something erasable first, pen being too committed incase my four letter word doesn't match what the editors had in mind.
Haven't gotten to this week's yet, no spoilers!

Little: I subscribe to the print edition specifically for the puzzles. I am one of those solve-in-ink pain in the asses.
Then I go look at the cartoons in Week In Review. Airhead, me.

Little: Oh, PS, I topped the leftover spaghetti with sunny-side-up eggs today. Cranky was in heaven!
