Pretty Is as Pretty Does. It Does.

Hurry up and hold your ugly food contest, Zoomie! I'm going to win.
Even though I lovingly shot this dish in sweet light, at a jaunty angle, and yadda yadda, nothing could make this food look beautiful.
Until you had a bite. Then it was beautiful, and your eyes told you so, as well as your mouth.
It's basically a cock-up of colcannon and clapshot (more like what we call "cannonshot"), with a couple of mashed parsnips and carrots in with the taters and cabbage (red and green).
Really nutritious, and simply killer with the addition of goat butter. Goat butter is butter squared. Get some.
It made a great lunch, all by itself...
And the leftovers made an insane topping for shepherd's pie. Insane!

Goat butter? I don't think I've ever seen that. I like goat cheese and yogurt but I'm not that fond of goat milk (too much goat in it for me). But butter? Now that's an idea -of course, I don't need more excuses to eat potatoes, ugly or not.

Chilebrown: Thanks!
Heh. My hair was *perfect* for the market today, but I was too busy doing the NYT crossword puzzle in bed. So sorry we missed you.

Nancy: I agree with you about goat milk, although you can make a decent fresh cheese with it (and then you just sort of expect the goaty taste). But the buttah? The buttah? Trust me, it is gold. Candy. Salted caramels. All that and a wallop of fat. Unbelievably good, if you can find it (and it's not hard to find in Marin, the Land of Whatever We Want).

We never made it to the market. We were to excited for the half time show of the Black Eyed Peas.

We just watched the show and were very puzzled. My age and music tastes are not with it.

I hope you completed your puzzle with satisfaction.

Chilebrown: I know! The Black Eyed Peas of Shiz.
Puzzle accomplished.

Some foods offer great resistance to photography. My nemesis has always been cupcakes.

Greg: I have a library of failures, each one loved in its own, sad way.
But cupcakes? I can hardly believe it. Do you ever visit Tastespotting? Cupcake Acres. Cute, too (yecchh).

Hard to make brown or white food look appetizing...although it sounds amazing and I may just have to make it soon. I can't say no to colcannon or goat butter.

UC: Ah, a kindred soul. Thanks for the visit. I'm checking you out in Sackamenna.
