'Tis the Nibblies Season

The holidays entail a lot of feasting, but sometimes you just want a savory nibble with your glass of champagne.
This is what we snacked on before Thanksgiving dinner. It was our lunch, actually. Spiced walnuts. Salt, dried oregano and cayenne, stirred with olive oil and roasted for 10 minutes at 350ยบ. Really easy. But kind of filling. It was a while before we could face the gravy.
Walnuts are fresh, right now. I'm loading up on a few more bags at the farmers market, because I'll be throwing them into everything, from salads to pasta, all winter.
Winter. Oh, hey, it's egg nog season too! Cranky just brought home a bottle.
Yeah, I think I'll get through this just fine.

Yummo, those are going on the seasonal feast list - How was the gravy & smash?

Mouse: That was a Fahrenheit temp., OK? I'm sure you guessed that.
Anyway, the gravy was really, really good. I'm the world's best gravy maker. I really am. Cranky cooked the taters, and they were perfection, with butter and buttermilk inside.
Thanks for asking.

Yes, I can tell how difficult it is for you to struggle through the season. LOL!

Nancy: I do struggle, to tell the truth. The darkness and the rain just nail me to my bed for the most part. So I look for bits of joy!

Oh my - I am sorry to be so insensitive. I guess I'm completely the opposite. I love dark skies and rain because I find it inspires my art. That's ironic because I so often use bright colors. Anyway, I am sending you good vibes, healing light and good wishes that the darkness will lift for you. Always!

THANKS! this is on next my Nibble List!

I have another pal who suffers from the darkness and she says the best cure is to get outside for at least an hour a day during the brightest part of the day. I expect you do that while walking Bartlett, but just in case you aren't, words from the wise.

P.S. Even on a rainy day, your body will get enough of what it needs if you are outside.

Mmm. Wet walnuts. Between me, the dog and the resident mice, they don't last very long in this house. (Moose's best party trick is to crack open walnut shells with his teeth and then ever so delicately pick out and eat the meat!)

Nancy: Thanks for the love! That was really sweet.

Ilva: We're ready to make another batch already. I meant to thank you for including me in your roundup a little while ago. Thanks!

Zoomie: Bartlett gets all the exercise she needs in the back yard, and I figure I'm out there throwing her toss ring maybe ninety minutes a day. Thanks for the advice. (If only I could ratchet up the lumens in my computer screen to a therapeutic level!)

J-in-Wales: Moosemoosemoose! So brilliant to be able to whack open those nuts, and then get the meat out delicately. Good Moose.

Maybe you have Seasonal Affective Disorder? I understand that some type of sun lamp is very beneficial for those who have this issue - and even if you don't have it, sounds like more sun rays would be helpful. I would pimp one of my bright paintings but that would be tacky and I am never tacky. NEVER.
