I'll Tell You What Bugs Me

It was Cranky's turn to cook, and he wanted to make use of the wonderful beans and rice we had left over in the fridge.
Almost too easy: A couple of pasilla peppers, with bombbay doors cut into them. Scoop in the beans and rice. Top with cheese (he used two kinds).
Throw a splash of water in the bottom of a casserole just small enough to hold the peppers, and put a lid on. (Well, the stuffed peppers are already inside, right? Jeez, people.)
Bake for about 45 minutes. It's done when the peppers are soft.
OMG, the floral flavors in my mouth! I couldn't decide if it came from the peppers or the cheese or the filling.
Oh, wait. Could it have come from that damn little bedbug down there at the blossom end?
Look. You can see it. Click the piccy.
I really think I ate it.

What is up with all of this bedbug talk lately? It's giving me the heebie jeebies. Your stuffed pepper looks delish and thankfully I do not see this bug you mention.

Zoomie: If that's what they taste like, bring 'em on!

Denise: I, myslef, am a little spooked about the bedbug infestation in NY and beyond. Ca-reepy!

Protein, it's all good protein.

Eh, bugs.

I was discussing broccoli worms with a vendor at the market the other day when I said I had removed a number pre-cooking, but had never found one post-cooking.

We concluded: they look like broccoli. They have the texture of broccoli. They surely must taste like broccoli. HEY! They are, in fact, a kind of high-protein broccoli.

And that may be a bug, but I doubt it's a bedbug. I'm pretty sure they are BIGGER. Although, if you have them in the house you should know that they HATE oil of eucalyptus. Put a tablespoon or so in a spray bottle with water, and spritz your soft furnishings and anywhere else you think they may be hiding with abandon.

Bugs? We don't need no stinking bugs!

Mouse: If they taste this good, I'm starting a bug ranch.

Ferdzy: We don't have the bedbug problem New York has, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Great advice on the oil spray.
AND: OMG, those broccoli worms are so... so... green. You probably did eat some and I bet they taste great. Hah! Good story.

Greg: Yeah, but DDT is illegal; whaddya gonna do?

Bug or no, still looks good. I'm over the bedbug panic.

Dog: You're OVER it? It hasn't even happened yet.
I worry about everything. Swine flu. Whooping cough. Parking. How long it takes for the water to get hot in the shower.
:D

When we grew broccoli it was more worm than veg :(
Am now thinking we will have to cancel NY Xmas plans - bedbugs *shudders*

Mouse: I've heard stories of hotel clients who wake up with red bumps all over their faces. The bedbugs first inject an anesthetic, so you never feel them while you sleep.
And. I've SEEN your green worms.
