Boo?

Who is this little monster invading my plate?
Looks like Casper the Tranny Ghost, in his orange satin Zac Posen sheet.
But of course, you and I know it is a smear of delicious grease. Grease this gorgeous could only have come from sausages (and certainly not all sausages), or Buffalo Chicken Wings.
And your clue, dear reader: Look at Casper's eyes. What could have made those succulent white dots, tasting of buttermilk and blue cheese?
Yes, I majored in Subtlety. If I also show you this picture of celery, you'll be 100% correct when you guess wings.
So good. So easy. I always thought they were deep fried (and they were), but you can roast them in the oven for a perfect effect. Juicy, crispy. Just read the recipe on the Frank's label.
Greasy, hell yeah, but half the grease is butter, and butter is good.
I daresay there is no vegan version of buffalo wings, but I'll bet there's a vegan sausage. I wonder if the grease is orange. If there's any grease.
What a nice cultural excursion we've had today, from gender expression to fashion to grease to vegans.
Boo!

I cannot get over how orange that grease is, was it paprika in the wing coating?

We love our wings baked and not fried. So tasty and SO much easier/cleaner than frying. I haven't noticed any interesting artwork from the sauce yet. Must inspect closer next time!

@Ms Brown Mouse- congratulations!

When I lived in Western New York State, we enjoyed Buffalo wings in Buffalo. Truly a taste treat but I must go back to Buffalo to have the ultimate Buffalo taste treat, a Ted's hot dog. Just the memory starts my mouth watering.

Mouse: It's from Frank's RedHot, an unsophisticated but addictive chile-vinegar sauce from Louisiana.

And, does a lady PM get PMPMS?

Auntjone: I never deep fry anyway; the thought of clean-up is scary. Yeah, take a look at the artwork on the plate; we are getting messages.

Zoomie: How cool. Cranky and I had Buffalo wings in Buffalo, too, only once (we were traveling). At the Anchor Bar, where the recipe was invented.
Don't know about Ted's hot dogs. Now I'm intrigued.

At Ted's, you choose what you want, then wind by the cooking line watching your tube steak be charcoal grilled and poked a lot so the juices run down and make more smoke. Dressed at the end any way you like - pure Buffalo heaven. Buffalo is a surprisingly friendly and cool town. If I had to live in the Rust Belt, that would be where I'd choose. Luckily, I don't have to. :-)

Zoomie: I'm at two losses for words. Live in Rust Belt? Negatory. And Buffalo? Jeez, it's cool, but it's cold and decayed and I might not have got the whole picture, but... no.
Still love you, though, you wide-ranger. Stay here.
