What Does a 50-Pound Canary Say?*

·Today is the sixth — SIXTH — anniversary of "Mission Accomplished."
·Three American servicemen were killed in Iraq yesterday.
·It is the first of May, and it's raining.
·Our furnace is malfunctioning.
·The photo is of French toast made from pumpkinseed bread, slathered with fig jam and topped with sliced strawberries. Somehow the little tiny seeds in the figs and on the berries met up in a perfect, lovely crunchy crackle, almost as if on purpose. So, not all's bad.

Is it bad that the first thing I though in response to the title was, "F-you Sylvester"?

Kate: Wild mad easy, too. Go make some!

Greg: And that's just when he's young. He'll grow to, maybe a hundred pounds!

Mouse: Knowing how seldom I post any photos of sweet things, you've probably been starving. ;)

Chilebrown: Thank you so very much! You encourage me to continue being looney, and I... will!

Sweet Bird: Not bad! Poor little Tweety gots some attitude all stored up.

That looks really good...I always see fig jam in the store and am intrigued by it. I guess it's good; is it sweet like other jams or less so?

Can it really be 6 years?

Hope you had a good supply of toothpicks in - figs and strawberries are two fruits that keep on giving for hours after eating!

Ardie: I suppose it depends. This jam was made by a friend, and it was delightfully not oversweet.
All ya gotta do is try it.

Judith: I know; shiver.
So, the fig and strawberry seeds? Sort of an atomic orgasmic... the crunch was yummy and the teeth were spared.

I just drooled on myself. I don't think I've ever heard a combination of foods that makes me want to sprint to the nearest cupboard to see if I can put this concoction together myself.

Claudia: No custard, but we drenched it with Greek yogurt. Decadent.
