Last year, my cucumber plant introduced herself to me in cursive script. What a doll.
This year, though, I think she's gone a little tranny on me.
She is now The Artist Formerly Known as Gwen.

that is one FABULOUS cuke :)
Cookie, admit it...what did you do to that poor cuke???!!
Oh MY, that's an amazing garden work of art.
I almost fell off my chair, laughing. She's a spiny tranny, she is, and I know you love her. (Gwen seems so demure by comparison!)
That's a wild cuke!
You must have very creative soil out there!!!
Oh, these cukes - you name them Gwen, you talk to them, you show them off to all of your friends -- and then they go and get all... twisted.
(I think that picture needs to be printed and framed!)
Your garden is starting to scare me.
That just can't be real. I've never seen anything like it!
Reminds me of the song by Swan and Flanders, "Misalliance." Very cool cuke!
Anita: I should have been honest up front. It's actually TWO cukes. The front one is growing in a circle because it's so close to the other one, and its spines seem to have snagged. Nature.
Michelle: Yes, I am a vegetable torturer.
Morgan: I don't even have to eat it, do I?
Kudzu: We grow them kinky here at Casa Rancho.
Anna: I am very amused by it!
Mary Coleman: Creative soil!!! That's the best remark ever.
Jennifer: I will worry when they start wearing black trench coats!
Dagny: You don't know the half of it. I have to wear thick gloves to even touch those things!
The Italian Dish: Yeah, and how do I peel it???
Zoomie: I'm stumped here. Must do research. :)
food as art
that should be sent to serious eats. i'll bet tastespotting would take it. oh wait, are you a daring baker? then they probably won't...
c e f: Whuh? Is there some, uh, "stuff" going on between Daring Bakers and Tastespotting? (I am neither, BTW.)
From my bookmarks; have a look:

I was also sent an email (by a friend : ) with photos of very sexy veggies - very, very, hmm, EARTHY in shockingly anatomically correct ways, it was great, really! Once I stopped bloshing. (my 'yew' key is wonking on me, sorry!)
elarael: OK, I'll go look. Fully prepared to blosh. Thanks!
