Harmony Convergence

I'm going back.
I loved my lunch at Harmony Restaurant, in the Strawberry shopping center in Mill Valley.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with any of the six dim sum plates we ordered, and there was absolutely something right with three of them.
Let's see. Six times a possible four stars minus six times three equals... Oh, how nutty; that's not even right. I'll give them four stars for three plates and three stars for three plates, which adds up to...
Well, there's a harmonic conversion in there somewhere, and I'm a convert.

Oh please tell me there were dumplings in that group of six...I've been on such a dumpling binge recently! I couldn't possible eat as many dumplings as I want to, so I must vicariously through others.

Yum cha!

Oh, Leena: It was the dumplings that earned the four stars! Classic siu mai to die for. Bean curd rolls (forgot if there was a "real" name). Shrimp Gow ("har gow," I always call them).
I wish I could share.
Yum cha! (Or, actually in my case, yum Tsing Tao.)
:D

Sounds like a nearly religious experience! I'll have to get over that way one day soon. Have you tried Feng Nian in Sausalito? Good Chinese food and nice ambience, too.

Yum Cha, total bliss, and the more people at the table the more dishes you can try.

OK. This is getting too eerie. I saw that place on Friday night as I was driving along 101 and thought to myself, "I'd like to try it out one day." Oooo. And that reminds me. I meant to do a post specifically on that one part of my drive.

Ohhh! you were so close! Harmony is one of my favorite places too. And I'm quite addicted to their turnip cakes.

When you come, to bring me that cornmeal, maybe you could also bring some good Chinese?

Zoomie: Feng Nian is great -- a good, typical Chinese experience.
Harmony is innovative, tries to use local ingredients, looks great inside. And the food tastes... culinary!

Morgan: Sadly, it's sort of Westernized in the way that the seating is more intimate. You could probably seat a party, but it wouldn't be at one of those round tables with a lazy Susan.

Claudia: You do realize what a bicycle-crazy place Mill Valley is? You'd love it. (I saw Sammy Hagar outside the Mill Valley Inn once; handing his RED car over to the valet.)

Dagny: Our experience was similarly eerie. We were driving home, and I wanted Chinese food. Previously we'd been planning on making a special trip to eat at Harmony, but this time, we just "drove by" and magic happened.

Anna: I've read your post on Harmony; a large reason I wanted to try it.
I LOVE turnip cakes; I just didn't order theirs because they're vegetarian and I love those bits of Chinese sausage in the regular ones. (But, OK, next time.)

KathyF: I'll bring you whatever you like. Can I take a cow home? I promise not to eat it.

I was just getting used to my homogenious surroundings here in the middle of nowhere, and then you had to remind me of dim sum... I wonder if they have dim sum in Iowa???

Stacie: Homemade Pot Stickers. You can do it. I did. Total yum. Need a recipe?

Have you had xiaolongbao (Shanghai-style steamed dumplings)? Addictive. They're next on my list to learn to make, because I damn sure can't get them around here.

Stacie: I got a better idea; I'll mail you a Xerox. That way you'll see drawings of how to construct them.

Jamie: I don't know if I've had those! At dim sum places, I usually just point to the dish that looks good as it rolls by on the cart. I would be impressed if you learn to make them. But. I know you can.
