It's Not Always Food

Sometimes it's a cocktail.
Oh my.
A bloody Mary, without the blood.
This was a vodka concoction made with home-grown, home-squeezed Sungold cherry tomatoes.
And. The decoration was home-grown celery stalks. It's all very immature right now, but then... so am I.

Mmm, sounds divine! Could you school me in how to juice a tomato?

Sam: Yeah! That sounds just right.

Catherine: How clever of you to ask. First, use teensy cherry tomatoes. Then, squeeze in a garlic press! Really! (You wouldn't want to do too many at a time, I suspect.)

Dagny: So pretty, we decided to skip the Worcestershire sauce and let the gold color shine.

Jennifer: [Next day] I actually took a nap right after!

El: Yes. There are so few tomatoes ripening at the moment, and we wanted to *use* them!

Greg: That's a compliment! Thank you.

I'm impressed with your ingenuity with the garlic press. There are home machines designed to separate the seeds and skins from the tomato pulp but for so few tomatoes (so far!) it's hardly worth it. The garlic press does the trick! Cheers!

You are so clever to use a garlic press. Me? Ghetto style. I woulda just put 'em in a clean kids plastic blow up swimming thing and let them squash it. Then we'd prob ditch the whole bloody mary thing and just had a big tomato fight.

I always feel a little cruel, eating bebe plants. That said, can't wait until I can start sticking things in the ground again and giving this a go.

Honey, you don't need your V-8!

wow! I like yellow tomatoes as there is less acid. I find them much sweeter, like the berries they are. I'm sure they work wonders in a Golden Mary. ;D

This is bringing the local food movement to a higher level.

Zoomie: Some of the seeds squeezed through the holes, but we didn't mind. It was so cool.

SteamyKitchen: Hah! Grape stomping. No, this way, at least we got the skin off. (But, yeh, I'm into the tomato fight!)

Mouse: Now, see: These were mature little golden cherry tomatoes. If they had lived any longer on the vine, they'd have shriveled. Much better to drink! (I hear you on that winter thing... hang in there.)

Catherine: You are number one on the guest list!

Kudzu: Isn't it fun? A little short on kick-in-the-pants seasoning, but so gentle and sweet... Mmm.

Nerissa: Yes! Golden Mary it is. Thank you.

Lannae: Well. Should I be distilling my own vodka? (Oh, wait. I have Hangar 1. Silly me.)

Wait a minute. Yellow tomatoes are less acidic? The reason why I left the "pretty" comment is that I'm not much of a tomato fan. (See that upbringing by Southerners in evidence?) But if yellow tomatoes have a different taste, perhaps I could be.

Dagny, the Sungolds are little candybombs. Almost illegally sweet.
