Dog on da Bed!

Bartlett thinks she built this house all by herself and staffed it with two compliant humans.
She has never slept anywhere but on our bed, from the day we brought her home. (Though she is about to take an overnighter out of town; we'll see how that works.)
She manipulates one or the other of us (usually Cranky) into taking her outside for a game of fetch, ANY TIME she wants.
We trot her food and water bowls from room to room (and outdoors, too), so she'll never be at a loss for a bite or a lick.
We are good servants.
But if you think that sounds bad, that's as bad as it gets.
She doesn't beg for human food because it doesn't work.
She is getting cuddlier by the day, as the root beer in her veins from puppyhood calms down.
She has done pretty well with behavior training. Pretty well; still working on "come," and she's almost two.
She is basically a nice dog with ultra soft fur and unbelievable muscle mass. Kinda ugly-pretty.
We are pwned.

I think she's beautiful, but I like smooth doggies :)

My Chihuahua, Jethro, has never slept anywhere except in my bed, or with his birth mother and siblings for the first eight weeks. The first two weeks in my bed he slept on the pillow next to my head. Then he slept under the covers (which he seems to prefer) with his head resting on the crook of my neck for about four weeks. After that he spent a couple of months against my chest and/or belly. Now he sleeps either against my back or in the crook of my knees. Good thing I'm a side sleeper, heh. When he was five months old I got him a companion/mate, Ellie May and she sleeps with Jethro and I. They sort of jockey for position switching off from behind my knees to against my back. I guess we shall see what happens now that it's warmer.

I know the feeling, although Cora doesn't sleep on the bed - she's too big and My Beloved is too warm for a coated dog.

She sleeps in the slipper chair next to my side of the bed with her tail in the curve of the chair and her head resting on the ottoman. She knows we find her adorable.

She's not ugly-pretty, she's just plain purdy :)

Mouse: You would love touching her. Her dog pound name was Sable.

Cali: OMG, you have described my dog EXACTLY! All except for the little companion, which I am still wishing for. Love your pups' names.

Zoomie: What a good girl is she. I still can't help feeling sorry for her that she's not snuggling with you. Wouldn't work.

Greg: I'm trying to untrain Cranky now. I tell him "You're the boss, not her!" :)

Hungry: Awww, thanks! How are things going with Sophie, who arrived in the nick of time? <3

Zoomie, I know a couple who share their bed with a full-grown Husky!

Are you sure that she isn't part cat? That sounds like every cat that I know - what's the saying. Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.
You two sound like staff but you also sound happy with your four legged member of the family.

Nancy: I won't lie, it's been hard. And with the maturation, and the eventual success of her training, we feel we have a pretty good dog. We put so much into it, it was either send her back to the pound or fall in love. <3

@Ms Mouse, they must have a bigger bed than we do, and/or they must be sounder sleepers. My cats always slept with me, either on my pillow above my head or under the covers on a chilly night, pricking me lightly with their claws if I tried to roll over in their direction. I did draw the line on a 60 pound dog. :-)
