She Has Root Beer in Her Veins

This is our little Manny Jack, Bartlett. I've thought of lots of names that might be more appropriate: Pogo Stick. Helicopter. Voom Voom.
I have never had such an active dog. Thank goodness our fenced backyard is sufficient for her to run in, at least twice a day. She's in great shape, so it's working. And after her runs, she usually conks out for an hour.
What I would really like is more awake, calm time. Hah.
And yet today, she perched on the floor cushions in the living room, staring out the window at the flora and fauna. But that was total independence. Which I applaud.
Coming up on eight months in April. She's still a puppy.

Is she still this tiny? Cute, cute.

Only eight months? You have another 14 months of puppydome. It is a good thing you have Cranky to watch over her.

We had an Irish Setter, she was still a puppy at 7!
She's got the brightest puppy eyes, and I'm betting she's keeping you on your toes!

Greg: Sorry. She will not hold still. I think you knew that. :)

Cali: Yeah, it actually hurts! I've got scabs and scrapes and sore muscles from this animal. What a workout.

Zoomie: This photo is a month old, and she hasn't grown appreciably in that time. I haven't had to adjust her collar for ages now. I would guess she's about 10 pounds.

Chilibrown: If you only knew! Cranky does most of the tending, sparing me the gruesome work. I will do my duty, but he is my guardian angel.

Mouse: That's kind of delightful. I wouldn't mind a seven-year-old puppy, as long as she's not running amok. Amok!

Bigglels: Boing! Boing! Boing! Boing! Boing!

Yeah, just like that. And, my names for my fishies change daily, weekly and monthly. But when they do a backflip while I'm feeding them, sending a good splash across the dining area, their names are always the same. Gosh you, you goshin' goshholes.

She is beautiful. I love her.

Zoomie, unfortunately she was a bit of a runner amok! Daft thing she was, but lovely.

Did Cranky have to hold her still for her close up? She looks adorable and must know that she's loved, even if she's an energetic bundle of mischief.

Biggles: Thank you for filling my brain with a new curse.

Lannae: Whee!

Dog: She's a little snazzy for a dog pound dog. Best of all, she's really *nice*. We didn't have to teach (or beg) her to love us.

Mouse: You called me Zoomie. Tee hee.

Nancy: Even Cranky is out of focus; this dog wiggles up the whole room.

is she slightly out of focus? Or is it my impression? :-)

yeah, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to take a picture of a puppy Jack Russell IN focus

she is adorable... too bad we live far away, my dogs would love to meet her - and I would get to meet you and Cranky!

Yay! I have to admit that I have been madly hoping for a post about Bartlett and when I signed on today there she was! (I Lurve your food posts don't get me wrong and I learn oodles from them. I just needed a puppy fix.)

I can only imagine the fun you are having with her. My husband and I marvel how our animals can make us laugh with joy every day--with the zany things they do. I'm so glad you guys all found each other!

Sally: Even CRANKY is slightly out of focus. Her wiggles are like concentric circles.

Shine: How sweet! Thanky thanky!
Well, yes, there's bonding for sure. But there's also fobbing off dog chores. "I took her out last time; you go." Warm and fuzzy like that.

Root beer. That's it. So happy to see the sweetie. Cranky, she has stolen your heart too. Both your hearts. LOVE IT.

Kathy: Cranky is doing much of the loving and training, so he's getting as much cuddle time as he wants. I try, I do!

Oops, I must have been toggling between blogs or wildly overtired or something.

Mouse: Well, it's nice to see you again, anyway. Get some rest. Hope it's going well, at last.

I know only too well the vagaries of a hyperactive dog. Not sure what you're feeding her, but we recently switched to Merrick wet and Orijen dry, both of which are low-glycemic. She can still leap over tall buildings in a single bound, but her overall demeanor is somewhat calmer.

Sean: Really? I always thought the sugar/hyperactivity link was a myth. I'm thrilled to hear your dog is calmer overall. But Bartlett gets a fraction of a bit calmer every day, as she grows up. Thanks for the info. I might try it.
