Pre-Blogging

This will be supper tomorrow.
Homegrown leeks and potatoes.
It's easy to forget about the humble produce in the yard in the summer when it's cascading with more urgent bounty.
Tomatoes! Pattypan squash! Cucumbers! Riveting, and demanding.
Then, in winter, there are the leisurely, patient vegetables. They've been in the ground for a long time, but they will wait. So kind. So calm.
Of course, I'm planning on making a leek and potato soup.
But I had an idea.
I'm going to stir in a knob of blue cheese.

And I can recommend adding some parsnips, too.

Oooo. I usually use sharp cheddar in my soup but blue. Oh that sounds so good. And maybe a little bacon.

Well, you had me at potato & leek soup (o roll on winter) but lost me again with the moldy cheese.
Still, I guess someone's got to eat the stuff :)

Zoomie: That sounds good. Look at you, Miss Parsnip!

Kailyn: I bet bacon would be really good.

Zia: I've actually made a potato soup with blue cheese before, so I know it works. If you like blue cheese.

Mouse: You don't like blue cheese.

Hungry Dog: You like blue cheese!

Biggles: I forgot to add, "served on a bed of brontosaurus tri tip."

You grew those? Nice! Anything beyond tomatoes and a little herbage is real farming.

Natalia: Leek seeds? I admire your rootsiness. I don't think I've planted anything from seed since I was five and grew some radishes. Good luck!

Greg: If you have a little patch of dirt, potatoes are killer easy. Leeks, too. You just ignore them.

Zoomie: At least he's nice about being rude.
