It Needed Washing Anyway

The storm blustered in last night and blew this doormat up and away.
Everything else that might get wet had been moved into the garage, but we thought the rug was safe under the awning.
We got inches and inches of rain. I don't have a measurement yet*, but it was 100% humidity in full force for about 12 hours. Pounding.
Still trickling now, and probably more tomorrow.
Which is fine, because I plan to flip the mat over and get the other side clean.

*UPDATE: More than five inches where I live.

My windows have been power-washed by the storm, too. I should run outside with my squeegee right now to defeat the streaks. On second thought, naw.

You know I had just planned to wash my car. I am sort of Happy, if I can find my car.

Is that a welcoming pineapple I see on that doormat?

Zoomie: I hear you're having the glass door leakage again. Poor you. I should save old bath towels for you.

Chilebrown: You made it rain! (We almost washed windows the other day; that is big stoopy.)

Mouse: I am impressed. Yes, it is. You must be on the whaling route.
I was going to write about the welcome symbol but I thought, "tiresome."
(We have a house full of pineapples, including a teapot and a ukulele. Come see.)

Holy crap.

I lived in that area for nearly 2 years and I think the total rainfall for that entire time didn't equal 5 inches.

Birdie: We do have microclimates. Marin County is notoriously wet, and it's even worse north of us. But. This was a humdinger. Very rare.

We do, sort of, live on the whaling route - the coast anyway. One day I'm going to have a big stained glass pineapple put into our front door, one day.

My college roommate makes huge stained-glass windows professionally. She's a little $$$, and in the US. But wouldn't that be cool?

there are a couple of stained glass workshops near us, one just around the corner. Once all the "important" fixes are done, the new stained glass door is top of the list!

Wow that is a lot of rain, of course it's often like that here but without humidity!

I am so happy about the rain- I was out for a walk this morning and the sidewalks are washed clean. I had to return some books to the library and the MUNI stairs at the Civic Center didn't stink of pee as they have for ages. Rain, rain, rain come again!

Well, you're conserving water by letting the rain wash it. :)

Mouse: I understand prioritizing. That's why we haven't replaced our gruesome front door yet. I love your idea.

Chris: Heh. By "humidity" I meant the sky was pure liquid! Like a faucet.

Nancy: I'm with you on washing away the stink. If we could just work out a schedule with Nature.

Melanie: Even better -- I'm air-drying it. :-)

Beatcha. Had 6.05 inches at my place!! Glad I pulled out all the waning and ready-to-go stuff from the garden. Have a colander full of little green tomatoes, but was too busy getting emergency lake-removal-in-the-driveway done to even consider what to do with them.

Kudzu: You picturesque little town can get verrrry wet.
We got most of the ripe tomatoes, but a couple of underripe ones, still on the vine, exploded in the rain. So cool!

You know rain water is great for washing hair. Well at least that is what Cranky told me whe we were hangin out last Sunday.
Did you go today?

cookiecrumb said...

Hey, Chilebrown: We couldn't go to the market because Cranky had an appointment. I was the driver. I haven't driven for about a year, but I was goo-ood. UPS hiring?

The storm is now history. It is 80 degrees in Oakland. Disappointed!
Also, I'm blogging again, check me out. xxoo

Moonbear: Yay! I will find you.
(We are looking at a chocolate brown puppy to adopt; your baby will love her.)
