Oh Noes!

Don't eat there.
Well, actually, you can't.
It's been closed.
Due to an apparent food-related illness that has sickened 400 people.
Damn you, Heston Blumenthal!
Or maybe it's Damn your fried mealworms!
Shut the Fat Duck up!

Even though I like the snails, I'm not sure if I would eat them in a porridge.

Kailyn: I'm sure Christopher Robin would not!

Is anyone else dizzy from following the connections in the stream of comments?

This whole Fat Duck thing is amazing -- especially when so many people seem to have been sickened over a period of time (not just a bad weekend). Hmmmm.

That is one fat duck! Anyway, I bet people will still be lining up to eat that shiznit when it re-opens. It's hard to avoid the pull of celebrity chefs.

Brittany: You get a tragic event like this, and the whole restaurant -- and Blumenthal's cookbooks -- seem tainted! I wonder if he'll recover. (And why hasn't HE gotten ill?)

Sam: Awesome! I am a big, big Milne fan. To think that Christopher Robin became an uncle...

Kudzu: It's the weekend. We're giddy.
Can't wait to hear how this story turns out.

Spitey: Well, celebrity chefs --- feh. (I hope you don't end up really famous, because I will have just dissed you.) xo

Big Milne fan here, too. My mother read all of them to all of us when we were small. Fond memories - I'm glad Chris got to be an uncle. Was he also a Dad?

Zoomie: I know he was very bitter about his dad having "used" him for the books. That's all I know.
Sam?

Tim Hayward at the Guardian thinks this could be a result of "HERBS" - High End Restaurant Blowout Syndrome" .... errr .... overindulgence. Here's a link to his post
