First Day of Summer

What would you rather do, get all naked and dance the solstice dance, or eat a tomato and cucumber sandwich?
Dessert was an intensely flavored apricot. Cranky started looking at his watch after he took his first bite... Nope, darn, it was already too late to go back to the farmers market and buy another sackful.
(What, you thought I drank fancy beer?)

Do I really need to choose between nakedness and lunch? I suppose only because I'm in the office, I will opt for the latter. Unfortunately, my lunch today comprised an appallingly bad burrito made with extreme incompetence. Not the best way to usher in the season, alas.

And actually, I am a teensy bit surprised at your beer choice. But I won't hold it against you. Much.

Oh, and if more apricots is what you're after, consider harvesting for charity: http://www.villageharvest.org/events.htm

I didn't even know there was a Solstice Dance. Always the last to know.

I think that there should have been a naked lunch followed by... uh hum.
That bread looks like wood oven fire bread. Is it? Yum!

Although I'm a big fan of tomato and cucumber sandwiches...

Darn it. See what you started? Now I'll never be able to even THINK of a tomato and cucumber salad without wondering if I should've danced naked instead :)

The bread does look yummy!

In the spirit of the Solstice I checked out the photos of (the usual suspects)Druids at Stonehenge, then switched over to Ladies' Day at Ascot -- don't know which ones were weirder. Would much rather have been making up some naked sandwiches. Instead I couldn't even think of dinner until nine because it was still so light outside. All v. discombobulating. Maybe I'll go out and howl at the moon, after popping a few apricots for late dessert.

T'was winter solstice here last night, brrrrrr, a bloody cold one too. I'm not a big fan of summer but I do miss those soft fruits, they almost make up for the heat & humidity.

Why can't you dance while eating the sandwich? Good food always makes me start doing a little dance.

Sean: Eh, you know? Let's not choose. Well, maybe at work you should just "pretend" the naked solstice dance.
So sorry about your not-celebratory burrito.
But thanks for the harvest link. Cool.

Tammy: It's like the Frug.

Lannae: Uh hum! I don't know if the bread is wood-oven; I'll ask next time at the market. Probably more an artifact of my lousy photography skills...

Pam: Ladies and gennelmen, Pam chooses the dance!!

Lotus: OK, but, as you can see from the comment count so far, we're probably supposed to do both.

Kudzu: You sensualist. No wonder you love food. Food is "uh hum"!

DMM: Aw, I'm sorry for you. Summer Solstice is my *favorite* day of the year, and not for druid-y reasons. I just love the daylight. I hope you have a cozy winter.

Dagny: When you get to be my age, you'll probably want to have at least a muu-muu on for the sandwich dance. :D

Kevin: I salute you!!

Stacie: Yeah, do both. But it's OK if you substitute a Blatz.

OK...now that's a sexy sandwich. (And I don't even really like sandwiches!). Maybe its just the thought of eating it naked ;-)

Catherine: Wanna come over for lunch?
Oh, OK, ew, that was totally wrong.

Can't I have the sandwich after the dance? It is the solstice, after all... one can have a cuke sarny all summer....

Give me a sandwich anyday. I love sandwiches.

Katie: I believe the concensus here is that we must eat the sandwich naked, dancing. With Martin Denny playing in the background.

Little Miss Moi: You'd love Cranky. Cranky loves sandwiches, and he's as fast (and talented) as a short-order cook.

In my book, naked gyrations always win out.

(ps- my outside fridge is filled with cans of Budweiser!)

S'Kat: But then you get hungry and thirsty, and guess what?
Heh.
(When the movers brought our stuff over to the "new" house, one brawny guy was hefting our mini dorm fridge, and he said "beer fridge, where do you want it?" Wow. Bingo! On the patio, I said Budweisely.)

nekkid sandwich eating and dancing: sure!

But put down *that* beer!
I'd love to recommend a nice kolsch for the lady as an alternative. :)

McA: I will take your advice, thank you kindly. It's just that a lot of upscale beers are too bitter for me. I do like Pilsner Urquell... it's gentle.
Now I'm off to Google Kolsch.
