Not a Food Blog Post

I hate to be absent, but unless I have a killer topic, I'm reluctant to just post stories about today's cheese sandwich.
Except: Today I'd love nothing more than to post a story about today's "cheese sandwich," but it's kind of a secret. It was no cheese sandwich.
I'm involved with a food project that I prefer to keep quiet about. For now. You all will have your chance to participate in this project in a few weeks, if you choose, but I've been singled out by a friend to give it a go ahead of time, so she can write about it for the paper she works for.
I just don't want to take the wind out of anybody's sails by talking about it too early.
That said, maybe I will post about today's "cheese sandwich."
It was a roasted chicken, cooked in an uncovered Dutch oven, inside the American oven, atop sliced root vegetables. If I were any more well-versed in temperature-taking, I might have left it in the oven for about 10 minutes longer. Even so, it was edible, and it was very tasty.
But, you see, I can't tell you the back story.
How cool: Intrigue!

Looks green. You're depressed. You want me to stop by with roasted chickenny, bacon stuffed, gravy on the tates? You and the Crank deserve a little rest.

Years ago I went to a dinner party. We were not that far out of college so it was a big deal as we were busy pretending to be grown-ups between endless cocktails. Said dinner party involved roasted chicken and root vegetables. The hostess placed the chicken on a rack so the chicken skin was crispy and the veggies had all that chicken fat goodness in them.

I bought my first roasting rack the next week. I also learned from this hostess the goodness of artichoke served with hummus instead of the usual butter. I still impress folks with this trick to this day.

I don't know what's worse, this or a cheese sandwich post...

Dr. Biggles: It *does* look green! But it was pink (inside). You are a good doctor indeed to offer properly cooked foods. However, the pot of chicken stock on the stove right now looks fantastic.

Dagny: It's a winning formula. I even rendered some of the chicken fat in the Dutch oven before I loaded in the veggies.
(Artichokes! I'm havin' one for lunch!)

Stacie: Not so mysterious. In a metaphysical sense.

Jen: Well, I love you unconditionally, no matter what you write about!! :D

Anna: Stick around. Later this month the curtain comes up.

ChrisB: Really? Hey!

Ilva: Believe me, a cheese sandwich post is the worst. So I'll have to think of something totally unique to write about today...

Huh? The non-joiner is joining in before any of the bona-fide joiners have even had a chance to join?

Now that's gotta be something!

Sam: OMG, you're right. This is weird indeed.
Well, it's a kind of "loner" joininess.
Erm. I was flattered into joining.
Yes, and I don't have enough stress yet in my life, so this seemed like the right thing to do now. :D
