What to order when you find yourself in a steakhouse, and you're not in the mood for steak?
Soup. Especially if the chef of said steakhouse is so enamored of soup that he's published a cookbook on that very topic.
Too bad said cookbook has gone into the remainder bins.
And I don't think for a moment that said chef was actually at the stove in said steakhouse, stirring up said soup.
But it was pretty good anyway.
Besides, I had already eaten my appetizer of beef tartare in a cocktail glass: Meat Martini with a Twist of Quail Egg (not its real name).
Mm. Decent lunch.

What I wouldn't give for an order of Morrone's Ahi Tartare right now or, even better, his Foie Gras Pasta. One of these days, I'm just going to have to make a special trip up to Novato...
Unlike som of the rest of us writers, Maronne does not have to depend on the sales of his soup cookbook. And maybe that will make it more affordable to more folks -- who may not be able to afford to make some of the soups....We are lucky to have Boca in Marin for such decadent lunches, no?
PS Of course we writers should always preview out comments so we don't appear so dumb, as in som for some.
PSS Or out for our.....it's the damned heat here in my office when there should be cool air and a sweet breeze. Duh.
