It's hot. Really hot. I'm swimming in iced tea and cold chicken sandwiches. The AC is on for the first time this year. But really, I got nothin'. Happy Summer.
I inadvertantly celebrated the Solstice by having a proper dinner for once, albeit a simple one. Steak and good bread and red wine. That's pretty celebratory in my book. :-D
Shuna, I had a not-great lunch there recently, but I'm not sure who was in the kitchen. I'm dying for it to be great; I'll give it another try at dinner. Cruisin' on over to see your politicism now! LR: What an inadvertent proper accident! I think my Solstice dinner is gummi bears. Wait, maybe tofu.
It was so hot today that all I could make myself consume most of the day was lemonade -- lots of it. By this evening I figured I should have some solids so I made a Cobb salad. But it's hot so no blue cheese dressing. Instead I used crumbled blue cheese with the strawberry balsamic I picked up on my last trip to TJ's and walnut oil. If it wasn't so hot, I could go enjoy some Haagen Dazs.
OK: The AC was built in at this 30-year-old townhouse when we bought it, and it's running about as well as you might expect a 30-year-old unit to run. I would never have installed it myself, but it's nice for those one or two days a year... Sam: Yes, I had a stunning duck dosa at Tabla. Lunchtime. I hope it's cool and breezy this evening! Bring something sexy to fan yourself with.
Settle down, there! It was a few months ago. I introduced myself to Suzanne and mentioned you. The duck dosa was a special of the day, curried with fruit, I believe, and the little chutneys accompanying it were perfect. (It's 8:02 now, a slight breeze is up and the sun is going behind the hills... Hope you're having a nice dinner.)
I live a couple of miles from the Marin County Civic Center Farmers' Market, which feeds my little blogging hobby. Hell, it feeds me, too.
Formerly employed, I'm now a bum. Happy bum. Tomato ranchin' bum.
But I'm still mad.

Relish the sunshine Cookie Crumb! Break out the lemonade pitcher and the ice cubes!! Before you know it, it will be rainy March again.
Happy Summer to you as well.

Turned out my supper yesterday was a bowl of Straus organic raspberry ice cream. It's unbelievable. Get some if you can. Oh my.
Even hotter today; the menu features a panzanella to be constructed at a picnic site (to be determined), iced tea and peaches.

it was awesome
15 people sitting in a tranquil San Rafael garden filled with lemon, orange, peach and fig trees.
spanish cured meats, olives, blood sausage,
tomatoes with anchovies,
russian potato salad
rabbit with peppers,
chocolate sandwiches,
spanish cheeses,
little almond cinnamon cakes
lots of nice wine,
new friends
lucky us.
especially since you were thinking of us...
thank you
