What Color Is Your KitchenAid?

Mine's "Empire Red." I gather it's a very popular color.
I chose it to match the checkerboard linoleum tiles at our previous house (red alternating with a custard yellow; love it or hate it — we loved it) and the fabulous red knobs on our antique Wedgwood stove. We've since moved, and there's not a lot of red accents in the new place. The KitchenAid still looks OK with our new décor, but if I could I'd pick a different color. Black, perhaps, or OMG, have you seen the chrome? Like an Airstream trailer.
So somebody should set up a clearinghouse for KitchenAid exchange, sort of like a pet rescue service. Move, change décor, and swap your red mixer for a more appropriate color.
Do you regret the color of your KitchenAid?
What color do you wish you had?

Tami: Sam has the tangerine. Awesome, beautiful.
Kathyr: Do you not believe in Santa?? Maybe you need a Cranky (or a Fred). xx

Sadly, I have no KitchenAid. Apparently, Santa does not believe in me...

I got a cobalt blue for Christmas. Unfortunately my automotive painting class got cancelled (seriously!) so no turquoise flames for me... yet!

Oh, I have a trusty navy blue, now spattered with gluten-free flour. I love it. I've had it for ten years, and i would never part with it, even if the chrome ones are sexy...

My KitchenAid is white. I got mine for my birthday last year.

I decided to go with the traditional white - but i REALLY wanted PINK!

My mom's is imperial gray, which kinda looks like a drill press and my friend has tangerine orange which is super cool!

I was coming to tell you I have orange but you beat me to it. Decor whatever - mine is so special to me, especially because of the manner in which it was given, I wouldn't swap it for any colour in the world.
Plus I HEART orange just as much as pink, and it matches the basket I take to the farmers market, and the purse (US wallet) that fred bought me in Paris.

Ours iz like this range-rover green colour. Like Jane drove on Lovejoy. We chose it so it wouldn't clash/craz with our granite countertop...not my colour of choice.

I want a Kenwood. (Am I in the wrong place here??)

cookiecrumb said...

Ilva: Oh! I didn't know about this brand . (Go look, everybody.) Wow, really good looking.

Sam said...

i forgot to tell you - David (there is only one David, right?), told us at the cooking class that Kitchenaid will customize your machine for you with whatever design you like. In fact I think he might even have one on order.

cookiecrumb said...

Sam: Well, David L., right?
But -- no way!! Could I get the Hello Kitty model?

Transparent. We're still working on how to bribe Santa. :-)

Well, "our" KitchenAid was a present from me to Jason. So I guess it's officially "his". And it's red like yours. And I love the color.

cookiecrumb said...

Mrs D: Ooh. Want mine? It's -- red.
Jen: Yeah, I do kinda like it. Never mind, Mrs. D.

I think Chopper's holding out this one.

MizD said...

Er, that would be for this one.

Yeah, I have a brain tonight. It's been a long week and my knee is killing me. (Remind me to limit myself to less than two hours of midnight bowling on my next trip to Seattle.)

cookiecrumb said...

Dammit! Bowling!
I think that's how Cranky and I got engaged.

Ilva, I have a Kenwood! I love it, and it has much more power and capacity than any KitchenAid model. I know this because I almost burned out the motor on my mother's white KitchenAid making a big batch of cookies, which I ended up having to do in two batches. But my Kenwood handled that recipe with ease and grace. \;+)

Mine is invisable. It's right next to my invisable dehydrator, which I keep next to my invisable garbage compacter and my invisable InSinkerator.

Now I'm off to have some invisable cappacino.

British racing green- I picked it for itself-it neither goes nor clashes with my apartment kitchen. I associate this color with classy, yet somewhat old-fashioned machinery.

Dagny said...

Ooo ... that Kenwood is pretty. If only I had known.

Bright canary yellow...

The latest Williams-Sonoma catalog arrived yesterday, and everything's pink for Valentine's Day (and isn't pink supposed to "belong" to the breast cancer folks?).
Kathyf: Nah, you don't want a trash compactor. That's just a weird way of keeping too much trash inside your house. :D

Anonymous said...

Mine is also Empire Red!

ZaZa said...

I got my mother a trash compactor for her house in the country, years ago. We have problems with flooding every time it rains. I had visions of using cubes of compacted trash - the non-food type - to build up the low areas, then cover them with fill. Never happened. It weighs a ton and sits there doing nada. With recycling, you really don't need it these days.

Custard yellow. It's not sexy but it's a beast. And loud. [Shouldn't be so loud, yeah? But it's always had this whining, cranky motor.]

Jamie said...

Mine's white. I'm old-school, yo.

My mother has the olive green, which is really beautiful in her dark wood/copper-trim kitchen.

I WANT a pink one.

cookiecrumb said...

Barbara, you totally deserve a pink one!
(For my cancer recovery gift to myself, I got a dead-animal article of clothing, not a KitchenAid. I think most people wouldn't want to hear about it. I'm way more into food now.)
:P

Mine is orange! ;-)

Mine is white. I want your red one. But I assume you wouldn't want to swap - I got mine before they sold them in cool colors, which means it's a little older. Still solid, though.

I spent two years lusting after a flame mixer with not enough $ for the airbrush, so I came up with decals in a one size fits all for $20, just for KitchenAid mixers.

Hey Ross: I have two (or three?) airbrushes, but it never occurred to me to do a custom job. Jeez!
We'll have to get you some notoriety for your decals. I'll go check them out.

I got an Empire Red Kitchen Aid from my live-in Santa for last Christmas, and I'm very happy with the colour (and the machine, obviously)

Pille: I still think Red is the leader of the pack.

I am going crazy. My cousin just got the pink. I recently got the buttercup yellow hand mixer at sonoma but also want the stand mixer. I love pink, but it is so pastelly. I am leaning towards mango or tangerine. Maybe grape. What do you think? Linda

cookiecrumb said...

Linda: Totally the mango. If you like pink, but are tempted by tangerine, the mango is right in between. Wow, it's cute. Wish I had one.

Anonymous said...

Hi Cookie, I have yet to find or see mango in Toronto. I did see one on ebay. I have flame (orange) le creuset pots and 13 different colours of fiesta dishes. I have a lime green toaster, red coffeemaker, buttercup hand mixer. As much as I like pink I may get sick of it. It always was my favourite. But I have 3 kuhn rikon knives and pink is my least fave in the knife. I like red and royal blue. I have a yellow orange cutting board too. My hand mixer buttercup works amazingly, just love it to piece. I am waiting to see the kitchenaid show on the shopping channel though, cause they have easy pay. Do you like clementine. I did see persimmon and it is nice too. Is grape out. Cranberry? Linda

cookiecrumb said...

Linda: Wow, you have a very colorful kitchen. Obviously you are not limited in your choices, but with all the frisky, pastel tones (and jewel tones) you've got going on, I'd avoid nasty old seaweed green or sewage brown! Persimmon is very cute, as is clementine. Grape is not one of my choices but it might be yours! I haven't seen cranberry, but it's veering towards dark... :(
LOL

Cookiecrumb:

Hi again. I just got back from buying bright red and clear lock and lock at the shopping channel clearance store. Also, I got bright yellow striped towels at Williams sonoma. Both were on sale half price. I have several striped towels from WS and I highly rec. them. Wash beautifully. I took another look at pink, red, white, black ka stand mixers. I think now it is between yellow and one of the oranges. Purple may be out.
Which do you like better, clementine, mango, persimmon or tangerine. Am I nuts. BTW you simply have to trie sprinkles mixes. I made pumpkin with the amazing cinnamon cream cheese icing last night. To die for. xoxoLinda

Linda,

I have both a 5 Quart Tilt head Spicey Orange (which is the same as Persimmon as far as I can tell) and a Tangerine Mixer (bought this because it was a 6 quart lift bowl..I really like the lift bowl..if for nothing but looks). I bought the tangerine because it was so rare to find a lift bowl in any orange color.

I also have a Clemetine hand mixer. As you can tell I have a thing for orange. As far as the oranges go I am a bit partial to the Spicey Orange/Persimmon. It is a deep true orange without the yellow of the tangerine. It sometimes reminds me more of a red and other times like a 70's orange (which I happen to like). My second choice for Orange would be Clementine as it has slightly less yellow then the tangerine. My third choice is tangerine because it is not really a true orange.

I don't much care for Mango as it is too pink. If I wanted pink I would go for Cranberry. I also do not like melon as it is too peach. I think they have discontinued that color anyway.

So I say go for the bold go for the Persimmon which is likely the rarest orange color. I think WS has quit carrying the clementine so not sure who if anyone carries that color now but it is rare also. The tangerine is far more common. I like that I am not likely to ever go to someones place and see a mixer the same color as mine.

I too collect Fiesta and have all of the bright colors. Looking forward to the two new colors this year...Marigold and Ivory.

Good luck with your decision!

I got the new Electric Blue colour kitchenaid for Christmas. I wanted the Baby Blue to match my kitchen colour scheme. Only used it twice and so wish I had swapped it after my husband bought the wrong blue. Felt to guilty to ask. ;(
